Might be interesting to some – I’m now on my 3rd ISP (4 with the old DSL) and can compare pretty well i guess.
My village has around 100 people but every house has GPON fiber so we get 1000/500Mbit (up to 2000/1000 on Telemach and RUNE) – Unthinkable in Germany or Austria.
Ironically the commie blocks and city houses often only get DSL as they have underground power (our fiber runs along the power lines) while even the smallest villages get fiber…. my flat in the city had not even a phone line for DSL but a cell tower on the roof….
ISPs:
ISKON – 300/100Mbit only, first ISP we had, quality ok but nothing special. Around 30EUR/mo.
A1 – 1000/500Mbit, we changed to them from ISKON, very good network quality but they raise prices all few Months so we cancelled. 50EUR/mo.
Telemach – 1000/500Mbit, Known from other countries and owns many smaller ISPs especially in balkan area. We already have mobile contracts with them so we get a better price. 40EUR/mo with Premium TV (all).
All fiber infra is provided by the incumbent Hrvatski Telekom and the ISPs just rent from the GPON endpoint to the enduser (around 10EUR/mo) – This seems to work well as you can just change ISP by changing your router, no need for a new media converter or fiber.
