I had the need to create a macOS installer which is only possible inside macOS – Installing macOS inside a VM is not the most trivial so here is a complete VM with basic tools and a guide.
System: macOS 12 (Monterey), 4 CPU cores, 8GB RAM, 80GB HDD
Packages: Chrome, iTerm, Opencore
User/Password: wm/wmwm
Extras: VMWare Tools installed, AMD CPU patch enabled, MacBookPro spoofed with valid Apple Serial
Install:
- Download VMWare Player or Workstation (Windows, macOS and ESXi supported)
- Download unlocker and run it – https://github.com/DrDonk/unlocker/releases
- Extract VM and Open the OVF file in VMWare
- Edit CPUs/RAM if desired
- Boot
